I want to write few lines about Timothy Treadwell... probably you know him better than me. I saw some weeks ago the documentary film "Grizzly Man" by Werner Herzog that talks about the 13 seasons lived by Timothy among bears in the Alaska Peninsula, concluded with his death right this day of 4 years ago by the animals he tried to protect. I read a lot of comments about Timothy act, mainly negative... I read that Tim was an idiot, a mental retarded, irresponsible... Others said that with his behavior he get bears use to human presence, damaging them ( maybe that's true ). Well, that Tim had some sort of problem is more than clear, as explained in the documentary, but I think his intentions was good and he acted in good faith. In my opinion I consider Tim as a real environmentalist, that has no fear to bring his life in danger to protect his beloved animals. Yes, I prefer a REAL environmentalist like Tim than those dumb folks here in Italy ( or elsewhere ) that call himself "environmentalist" just for politics interests. Here are some links. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timothy_Treadwellen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grizzly_Manwww.grizzlypeople.com/Rest in peace, Timothy.

I heard about Timothy Treadwell, but I never did see the movie. I heard he actually got killed by one of the most endanger species of those bears though he did protected the good ones. Now that's what I called bravery. But I never heard anything about rumors of him about being an idiot or whatever, that part surprises me.

Tim was no idiot. He knew all the risks and that he could easily get killed. He would even tell his family before he went each summer that if he left them that summer, it would be the way he wanted to go. And he got his way as deaths go. He was a B student in school, something an idiot wouldn't be capable of. He went through a lot of greif and hardship for those Bears, and I don't think he did much harm. He knew his stuff and the fact that so many people go around saying he was an idiot.had a problem etc really gets to me. The man had good intentions and meant no harm. Sure, he was a little weird... but who cares? That doesn't make him insane. I admire his courage, rebelious attitude and especially the connection he had with the bears. One bear may have killed him and his girlfriend, but it turned out the bear that killed him was one he didn't have a good relationship with anyway. Some say the Bear had enough of Timothy, others say it thought he might make a good meal. Whatever it was, it was just one bear out of many out of 13 summers. He proved something by surviving all that time. Anyway, enough of my rambling.
